Edamame beans are one of my all time favourite snacks/light lunches, and they are super easy and quick to prepare!
I get mine from Tesco, you can find them in the frozen peas/beans section but sometimes they are hidden pretty well so have a dig about if you can’t see them. I also buy them still in the shells because I enjoy them more this way, so if you want to make them how I do, then do NOT buy the ones that have already been popped.
Once you have your edamame, pour your desired amount into a bowl then pour into a saucepan and fill with boiling water and a teaspoon (or 2 if you want extra salty) of salt and let simmer away for about 5-7 minutes.
Once your edamame are cooked through, strain them and place them into a mixing bowl, or like me, just do the next bit still in the colander. Sprinkle salt (I used pink himalayan salt), pepper and 5 spice onto your edamame and toss whilst doing so, this way all the beans get covered.
Now crush 3-5 cloves of garlic (depending how you like your garlic) into the edamame and stir together until the garlic is evenly spread.
Now serve up and chow down! Remember you don’t eat the shells of edamame, only the beans, you basically suck out the beans so you get all that lovely seasoning from the outside and then the nutrition from the bean!
These are also great with some dried chilli flakes or dipped in some sweet chilli sauce.
I hope you enjoy this quick and easy snack!
